On March 7 2018, the AIAA HKUST Student Branch invited Mr. Anthony Hays, former Lockheed engineer to deliver a presentation about the future of zero carbon emission aircraft operations.
Tony introduced the various initiatives in realizing this goal, and also explained the technological barriers in achieving zero carbon emission operations.
Tony Hays has 50 years of experience working in the aerospace industry – with 30 years spent at Lockheed in aircraft conceptual design. Tony holds a B.Sc. degree in aeronautical engineering from Bristol University in the UK, and an S.M. degree in aeronautics and astronautics from MIT. His contributions to the industry include designs varying from a vertical take-off airliner (Hawker Siddeley HS133/141) to a single-stage to-orbit scramjet-powered spyplane (NASP). He has also been involved in other areas of aircraft design and operation, including aeroacoustics, flight crew training (Lockheed C-130J), flight manual development (Lockheed C-130J and C-5M), and market development (De Havilland Canada DHC-7).
